February 28 - The Last Visit

Today was my 6-week postpartum visit with Claudia, my dear midwife. Lucy Jane is up to 12 lbs, 7 oz from 7 lbs, 12 oz at birth. Saying goodbye to regular visits with the midwife is the hardest part of having a baby for me. I guess I just need to keep having more babies!

February 27 - Up a Creek

We spent the afternoon hiking at Sope Creek, part of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The weather was perfect and the trails and ruins of the old paper mill were a beautiful setting for a fun afternoon with our friends the Richters.

February 26 - Birthday and Biking

We celebrated our friend Arkady's birthday today at Play, one of our favorite indoor places. The kids loved the punch balls that came in their goody bags. The parents were excited to get a CD of Arkady's Favorite Songs Volume II! We've been listening to Volume I for a year.

Lila also learned to ride a bike late this afternoon. Photos to come soon.

February 25 - Friends on the Roof

We were supposed to go the Cartier-Bresson exhibit at the High Museum today, but Lila, who doesn't share my love of fine art, staged a protest, so we stayed home and our friends Caitlyn and Abbe came over to play instead. Guess I'll have to check out the exhibit by myself sometime.

February 24 - Meerkat Manor

In conjunction with our zoo visit yesterday, we're studying meerkats for homeschool this week. Here is Lila showing Daddy the lap book she has been working on.

February 23 - Put Me in the Zoo

We dropped Lila and Nellie off with Miriam and Ewan at the zoo this morning. Mir watched the big girls while I had a doctor appointment. Lucy and I then met them back there after my appointment in hopes of a peek at Po, the new baby Panda.

February 22 - Finding Joey

I didn't have any great ideas for a photo today, but we walked into Trader Joe's this afternoon and this was right inside the door begging to be the photo of the day. The girls found the hidden Joey stuffed animal in the store, so they got a prize which made enduring grocery shopping worthwhile.

February 21 - Bubbly Toes

I put all three girls in the bath together today. The big girls had great fun bathing with the baby. Lucy seemed pretty content, so I guess she enjoyed it as well.

February 20 - Smiles

Lucy smiled her first non-reflexive smile today. We've been struggling with fussiness and reflux or gas or a food sensitivity, so it was especially touching to see her grin happily at me. We tried to get a photo of her smiling, but she wouldn't perform for the camera, so here's a shot of all three girls stacked together.

February 19 - Neverland

Rick and Lila saw the Peter Pan 360 show today. Nellie was heartbroken when she realized she wasn't going, but she is a little young for the content and duration of the show. She and Lucy and I went shopping instead.

February 18 - Mountain Mama

Our homeschool meet-up today was at Vickery Creek Mill in Roswell, one of my favorite outdoor spots. The trails the group chose were ambitious for four weeks post-partum, but it was a nice afternoon and great company. I just hope my body doesn't ache too badly in the morning!

February 17 - Gleeks

I'm trying to fill the void left from finishing all of the Modern Family DVDs by watching Glee. I don't let the girls watch the episodes, but they love the musical numbers and sat with Rick tonight and watched all of the performances on the latest DVD from Netflix.

On this day in 2007, Lila and I were in Louisville, Kentucky visiting my college friends. L to R: Jude, Jackson, Lila, Katie, Annie

February 16 - Just a Swangin'

We met our best buddies at the park today before art class. I don't know if it was the weather or the company or both, but it was good for my soul.

February 15 - The Sleeping Beauty

We saw The Atlanta Ballet perform The Sleeping Beauty with our homeschool group today. Nellie wore her Princess Peach dress to the show. I love the dichotomy of the Nintendo video game character and the 19th century Tchaikovsky ballet.

February 14 - Daddy's Sweetheart

Valentine's Day was a busy day here. We spent the afternoon at the park with friends, baked and decorated cookies, did some heart crafts and lots of other celebratory stuff too. I took a lot of shots, but this photo best captures the spirit of love for the day.

February 13 - Chalk it up

Today was a beautiful day and the girls spent the afternoon outside riding their scooters and playing with sidewalk chalk.

February 12 - Modern Family

For the past couple of weeks, Rick and I have been watching Season 1 of Modern Family on DVD and we've both fallen in love with this show. Tonight we watched the season finale and were sad to see it end. Now we have to catch Season 2 one weekly episode at a time. Life is hard.

February 11 - Valentine's Day Party

We had a great time at our homeschool Valentine's Day Party. We exchanged cards, decorated cupcakes, had a scavenger hunt, and played pin the heart on the cupid.

Today we visited our local fire station with a group of our homeschool friends.

February 9 - Masterworks

Lila painted this heart tree landscape in her art class and Nellie painted a ceramic butterfly. More gorgeous home decor!

February 8 - Cousins

We got to spend the afternoon with Aunt Mimi and Baby Ewan. The big girls love to entertain Ewan, and he's very generous with smiles and giggles in return.

February 7 - Our Neighbor Angel

We are lucky to have the best next door neighbors. Alyssia brought us a delicious dinner, dessert, and a fun sticker activity for the girls tonight.

February 6 - Super Birthday

We celebrated Rick's birthday and the Super Bowl with our friends the Richters. We didn't get around to candles and cake, but Adam cracked open one of his 10.10.10 Stone Vertical Epic Ales. Rick likes beer better than cake anyway!

February 5 - Birthday Celebrations

We had Rick's family over today to celebrate the February birthdays: Jordan 2/1, Mark 2/5, and Rick 2/6.

Slow news day at the Parker house. We had Mexican takeout for dinner. Lila loves rice and beans from El Azteca.

February 3 - Four Lovely Girls

Big, big sister CC met Lucy Jane for the first time today. The girls were thrilled to have her visit and Lucy thought her arms were a lovely napping spot.

February 2 - Helping Hands

I'm pretty sure she was cleaner after they got finished than before they started. I think. At least, she appeared to enjoy it.

February 1 - Indoctrination

One of Rick's contractors sent Lucy a gift from the Georgia Tech bookstore today. It's never too early to start the indoctrination. The big girls are both big fans of Buzz.
